Khadi, the heritage fabric of India, has supplied 100 custom-designed \u201cMujib Jackets\u201d that will be attired by the dignitaries during the Indian Premier Narendra Modi\u2019s upcoming visit to Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
The Indian Prime Minister is set to pay a two-day visit to Bangladesh from March 26 at the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend the celebrations of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of independence.<\/p>\n
The state-owned Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has supplied the \u201cMujib Jackets\u201d for the dignitaries following an order placed by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Dhaka ahead of Modi\u2019s visit to Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
\u201cKhadi Mujib Jackets\u201d to add sheen to celebrations of the Birth Centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during Modi\u2019s visit to Bangladesh\u201d, said KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena yesterday.<\/p>\n
He said the black Mujib Jackets, which have been designed with 6 buttons, two pockets on the lower half and a front pocket on the left, is famed as the \u201csignature garment\u201d worn by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.<\/p>\n
The especially-designed Mujib Jackets have been made of high-quality handcrafted Poly Khadi fabric.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn keeping with the eco-friendly nature of the Khadi fabric, the covers for these jackets too have been made of black Khadi cotton fabric with Khadi India\u2019s logo embroidered over it,\u201d Saxena said.<\/p>\n
These jackets will be carried in especially-designed plastic-mixed handmade paper carry bags made at KVIC\u2019s Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute (KNHPI) in Jaipur.<\/p>\n
\u201cMujib jacket is historically-significant in Bangladesh and it is a matter of great pride that the jackets made of Khadi will be adorned by dignitaries during the Bangladesh visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is Khadi\u2019s biggest brand ambassador,\u201d the KVIC Chairman said.<\/p>\n
Saxena said that the Khadi-made Mujib jackets will add significantly to the historical and cultural values of the celebrations and it will also promote Khadi on the global and diplomatic platform in a big way.<\/p>\n
