Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud yesterday said BNP is instigating those who are against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s visit to Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
\u201cBNP has been pursuing the politics of anti-India for long . . . It is not supportive for the development and progress of Bangladesh,\u201d he said, addressing the triennial conference of Sapahar upazila Awami League of Naogaon district through video conference from his official residence in the capital.<\/p>\n
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder, Awami League (AL) organizing secretary SM Kamal Hossain, health affairs secretary Dr Rokeya Begum and Shahiduzzaman Sarker, MP, among others, addressed the conference with Sapahar upazila AL president Shamsul Alam Shah in the chair.<\/p>\n
Hasan said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has raised a question \u2013 \u2018why the Indian premier is coming to Bangladesh?\u2019 In fact, the BNP and Jamaat, especially BNP, have made their position clear by raising the question that they are instigating those who are against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s visit to Dhaka, he added.<\/p>\n
The minister said BNP could not back from its anti-India politics. \u201cWe need good relations with the nighbours for the progress of the country. \u201cDevelopment and progress are not possible without good relations with the country which is surrounding us from three sides,\u201d said Hasan, also AL joint general secretary.<\/p>\n
He said BNP has raised the question as the party doesn\u2019t want the development of Bangladesh. \u201cI would like to request BNP to comeback to proper politics instead of raising such questions. It is not favourable for the development and progress of the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hasan said the nation is going to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence when the country got the final recommendation from the United Nations for transition to a developing nation from the least developed country (LDC) status. He said Bangladesh is heading towards becoming a developed state by 2041 under the leadership of Bangabandhu\u2019s daughter Sheikh Hasina.<\/p>\n
The minister urged the leaders and activists of the AL to be more humble in their behavior so that the common people are not hurt.
