March has seen an upward trend of rising cases and deaths, forcing the government to take the tougher stance again<\/p>\n
The Bangladesh government has clamped fresh restrictions on public movement in a bid to tackle the new Covid-19 wave.<\/p>\n
The move coincided with the health authorities recording the highest number of Covid-19 cases in a day \u2013 5,181 \u2013 since the pandemic made landfall in the country in March last year.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the deaths of 45 patients were also recorded around the country, which was the highest daily figure since August 28 last year.<\/p>\n
With the latest development, the number of Covid-19 cases and deaths rose to 600,895 and 8,949, respectively.<\/p>\n
The month of March has seen an upward trend of rising cases and deaths day by day, forcing the government to take a tougher stance and impose the restrictions on public movement.<\/p>\n
The instructions include:<\/p>\n
* All kinds of public gatherings (social, political, religious and others) should be restricted. Public assembly is prohibited in high-infection areas. Public gatherings on the occasion of any social event, including wedding and birthday parties, should be discouraged.<\/p>\n
* Public gatherings in tourist attractions, cinema hall and theatres have to be made limited as well as fairs and exhibitions of all kinds should be discouraged;<\/p>\n
* Unnecessarily roaming and gathering must be stopped. Going out after 10pm without emergency needs to be controlled;<\/p>\n
* If an individual goes out in need, s\/he will have to maintain all kinds of hygiene rules, including wearing a mask. Legal actions should be taken if the mask is not worn or hygiene guidelines are violated;<\/p>\n
* Hotels and restaurants must be barred from serving clients more than 50% of the capacity.<\/p>\n
The government said on Monday that the restrictions were effective immediately and that they will remain in force initially for two weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
