11 districts under Dhaka Division and eight under Chittagong Division included in the list<\/p>\n
Thirty one districts in the country have been singled out as high-risk areas owing to a rise in coronavirus infection rates in the regions.<\/p>\n
The districts are Dhaka, Munshiganj, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Rajbari, Shariatpur, Gazipur, Faridpur, Madaripur, Kishoreganj and Tangail under Dhaka Division; Chittagong, Feni, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Comilla and Cox\u2019s Bazar under Chittagong Division; Rajshahi, Natore, Bogra and Naogaon under Rajshahi Division; Khulna, Narail and Jessore under Khulna Division; Rangpur and Nilphamari under Rangpur Division; Sylhet and Moulvibazar under Sylhet Division; and Barisal under Barisal Division.<\/p>\n
The Directorate General of Health Services revealed the names of the districts through a press release issued on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Bangladesh has been witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths for the last few days.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, the country recorded the highest number of cases in a single day (5,358) since the outbreak of the pandemic in March last year.<\/p>\n
At the same time, 52 new deaths from Covid-19 were also recorded across the country \u2013 the highest single-day fatalities in seven months.<\/p>\n
Earlier, on Monday, DGHS Additional Director General Meerjady Sabrina Flora, in response to a query, said the authorities had noticed a higher transmission of Covid-19 in six districts on March 13. Covid-19 was surging in 20 districts just a week later on March 20, a figure which increased to 29 districts by March 24.<\/p>\n
