Police have arrested Mufti Lokman Hossain Amini on charges of making anti-state statements and instigating violence during the series of violent protests carried out by Hefazat-e-Islam in Narayanganj, last month.<\/p>\n
The 45-year-old Hefazat leader was arrested from near the Mortuzabad Jame Mosque in Rupganj upazila on Saturday night, confirmed Rupganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) HM Jasim Uddin on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He has been shown arrested in a case filed over the violence following the confinement of Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque with a woman at a resort in Narayanganj on April 3.<\/p>\n
According to police sources, local Hefazat organizer Mufti Lokman, has been posting provocative, anti-state posts through his social media handles for quite some time.<\/p>\n
Besides, evidence suggests that he was directly involved in the violent protests on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Narayanganj during Hefazat\u2019s countrywide strike on March 26, the sources added.<\/p>\n
