Traders were seen selling onion and soybean oil at higher prices on Friday in different kitchen markets in Dhaka.<\/p>\n
Onions are being sold at Tk40-45 per kg, an increase of Tk5-10 per kg from last week, reports Bangla Tribune.<\/p>\n
Aslam Parvez, a trader from Gopibagh, said: “The demand for onions has suddenly increased for which the price went up as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to the regulatory body, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), in the last one week, the price of homegrown onion has increased by more than 13% while the imported one by more than 7%.<\/p>\n
The prices of both bottled and non-branded soybean oil have also gone up in Dhaka’s markets, TCB says.<\/p>\n
The traders were found charging Tk5-10 more than the MRP for a one-liter soybean oil bottle available in the market.<\/p>\n
Yusuf Ali, a trader in Manik Nagar area, said that the price of non-branded oil had gone up by Tk4 per kg.<\/p>\n
The price of palm oil has gone up as well. It is now being sold at Tk125-127\/kg instead of Tk120-122 sold last week.<\/p>\n
TCB says the price of coarse rice has not decreased but the price of fine and medium quality rice saw a small fall \u2013 by Tk1-2 per kg.<\/p>\n
The prices of both homegrown and imported ginger have also decreased this week. TCB estimates that ginger prices fell by 12.5% from last week.<\/p>\n
Traders say that the price of local ginger has decreased by Tk10-20 per kg and is now being sold at Tk100-140. The imported ginger is available at Tk70 now.<\/p>\n
In the last one week, prices of gram, potato and flour have decreased as well.<\/p>\n
In the vegetable markets, prices of some vegetables have fallen while chicken, egg and sugar prices remain unchanged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
