{"id":621,"date":"2021-03-01T07:08:58","date_gmt":"2021-03-01T01:08:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/financialherald.net\/?p=621"},"modified":"2021-03-01T07:08:58","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T01:08:58","slug":"bangladesh-indomitably-moving-ahead-to-realise-bangabandhus-dream-hasan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/financialherald.net\/?p=621","title":{"rendered":"Bangladesh indomitably moving ahead to realise Bangabandhu\u2019s dream: Hasan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud yesterday said Bangladesh is moving ahead indomitably to materialise the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBangladesh gets the final recommendation from the United Nations for Bangladesh\u2019s transition to a developing country from least-developed country status . . . The country has left behind Pakistan in every index, which is being also published in every media of Pakistan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The minister made the comments while addressing the triennial conference of Awami League Athrai upazila unit of the district.<\/p>\n<p>Hasan said Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had told that he would turn the state into Sweden in the the next 10 years. But, then, the people of Pakistan replied him (Imran Khan) saying that \u2018not Sweden, turn Pakistan as Bangladesh in the next 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>Mentioning that Bangladesh in terms of per capita income has already left behind India, he said. \u201cThe achievement during the last 12 years has been possible only for Bangabandhu\u2019s worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>About COVI-19 situation, the minister said the pandemic was in tolerable level in Bangladesh due to farsighted vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Many people were infected and died in the developed nations due to the Coronavirus, but such types of incidents did not take place in Bangladesh, he added. He said many people, including BNP leaders, apprehended that crores of people in the country would get infected with the virus and thousands of people would die due to the spread of the Coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven, they told that the government would not be able to bring COVID 19 vaccine in proper time. But the government has been able to successfully combat the COVID 19 situation under the skilled and dynamic leadership of the premier,\u201d said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary. He said the government has taken initiatives for buying vaccine before the production. \u201cAnd the vaccine has reached the country \u2026.people are receiving vaccines,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The minister urged the BNP leaders and other people, who earlier criticised the government regarding vaccines, to receive the vaccines openly, not secretly. He also urged the BNP leaders not to make countrymen confused. BNP leaders also told that thousands of people would die due to starvation during the COVID 19, he said, adding but, not a single person died due to the virus as the government has taken pragmatic steps, he added.<\/p>\n<p>All the leaders and activists of Awami League remained beside the<\/p>\n<p>countrymen during the Corona pandemic following the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. \u201cFor this, many including ministers, lawmakers and advisors of the government and senior leaders of the party were infected with the virus and many of them died. I was also infected. But, the persons, who criticized the government, didn\u2019t stand beside the common people,\u201d said Hasan.<\/p>\n<p>The minister went on saying that Bangladesh is now known as a hunger-free country. The government has set a unique example through providing allowances to widow, elderly people and people with disabilities and allocating houses to homeless people.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said the government has also increased the allowances of Freedom Fighters, which is now Taka 20,000.<\/p>\n<p>Food Minister and AL Naogaon district unit general secretary Sadhan Chandra Majumder addressed the conference as the key speaker with AL Athrai upazila unit president Nripendranath Datta Dulal in the chair.<\/p>\n<p>AL health affairs secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, Barrister Nizam Uddin Jalil Jan, MP, and Md Anowar Hossain Helal, MP, addressed the conference as special guests. Naogaon AL district unit president Md Abdul Malek inaugurated the conference. In the second session of the conference, Nripendranath Datta Dulal and Mohammad Akkas Ali was elected as president and general secretary of the upazila AL unit respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Police to be deployed in CHT camps vacated by army: Home minister<\/p>\n<p>Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said police will be deployed in the camps left by the army in Chattogram Hill Tracts.<\/p>\n<p>The government is doing this as per the peace treaty in an effort to bring back peace in the region, he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have to maintain the law and order\u2026 For this reason, we have decided to deploy police in those camps,&#8221; he told reporters after an hour-long meeting at the home ministry with Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity President Jyotirindra Bodhipriyo Larma, popularly known as Shantu Larma.<\/p>\n<p>The peace accord was signed on December 2, 1997, between the then Awami League government and Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity to bring an end to two decades of insurgency and unrest. The home boss said there was continued bloodshed in the three hill districts, adding that the prime minister had directed the authorities concerned to take care of the areas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a report by an additional secretary on what is happening in which places in the three districts. There were some recommendations in it,&#8221; he said. Officials have talked with chairmen, elected representatives, MPs, people involved with maintaining peace, and other stakeholders from the three districts, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that some parts of the peace accord have yet to be implemented. &#8220;We discussed everything, every small issue, and Shantu Larma assured us that he will provide all kinds of assistance to us,&#8221; said the home minister. &#8220;We have informed Shantu Larma during the meeting about the deployment of police in the camps.&#8221; The districts in the hill tracts are governed like any other districts under the directives of the prime minister.
