{"id":774,"date":"2021-03-05T09:18:40","date_gmt":"2021-03-05T03:18:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/financialherald.net\/?p=774"},"modified":"2021-03-05T09:18:40","modified_gmt":"2021-03-05T03:18:40","slug":"ht-imam-to-be-laid-to-eternal-rest-at-banani-graveyard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/financialherald.net\/?p=774","title":{"rendered":"HT Imam to be laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The prime minister&#8217;s political adviser breathed his last in the early hours of Thursday<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister\u2019s Political Adviser HT Imam, who breathed his last in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 82, will be laid to eternal rest with state honour at the Banani graveyard in the city after Asr prayers.<\/p>\n<p>Awami League (AL) Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua disclosed the funeral and burial plans of HT Imam by posting a status on his verified Facebook page at around 8:30am on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe body of the honourable prime minister\u2019s political affairs adviser HT Imam will be taken to Ullapara upazila in Sirajganj by a helicopter at 9.30am on Thursday while his first namaz-e-janaza will be held at the Ullapara Akbar Ali Government College ground there at 11am,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>OpuThen the body will be brought back to the capital by the same helicopter and kept at the Central Shaheed Minar from 1.30pm to 3.30pm to allow people from all walks of life to pay their homage and have last glimpse at the cabinet secretary of the Mujibnagar government during the country\u2019s Liberation War in 1971, the AL office secretary added.<\/p>\n<p>According to the burial plan, from the Shaheed Minar, the body will be taken to the Gulshan Azad Masjid where the second namaz-e-janaza of HT Imam will be held after Asr prayers.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the Dhaka district administration will offer guard of honour to the prime minister\u2019s political affairs adviser at the Banani graveyard before his burial. HT Imam breathed his last around 1:15am at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka where he was being treated for various age-related complications, including kidney disease.<\/p>\n<p>OpuHe was serving as the political affairs advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since 2014. Born in 1939, Imam completed his undergraduate studies in economics from Rajshahi University and also completed his graduate degree in economics from Dhaka University. Later, he completed his postgraduate degree from the London School of Economics in development administration.<\/p>\n<p>Hossain Toufique Imam, popularly known as HT Imam, joined the then Pakistan Civil service in 1962 and served the Mujibnagar government as the cabinet secretary during the country\u2019s Liberation War in 1971.<\/p>\n<p>Presidents, PM pay tribute to adviser HT Imam<\/p>\n<p>President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina this afternoon paid their tribute to PM\u2019s Political Affairs Adviser Hossain Toufique Imam, more known as HT Imam by placing wreaths at his coffin at the Central Shaheed Minar.<\/p>\n<p>President\u2019s Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Prime Minister\u2019s Military Secretary Major General Naquib Ahmed Chowdhury on behalf of the President and the premier respectively placed wreaths.<\/p>\n<p>HT Imam breathed his last around 1:15am at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here at the age of 82.<\/p>\n<p>A cabinet secretary in the Mujibnagar Government during the country\u2019s Liberation War in 1971, HT Imam was undergoing treatment at the CMH with various old age complications including kidney disease.<\/p>\n<p>He has been serving as the Advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina\u2019s Political affairs since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The prime minister&#8217;s political adviser breathed his last in the early hours of Thursday Prime Minister\u2019s Political Adviser HT Imam, who breathed his last in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 82, will be laid to eternal rest with state honour at the Banani graveyard in the city after Asr prayers.
