Bangladesh on Wednesday completed administering the Covid-19 vaccine to over 4 million people.<\/p>\n
From February 7 till now, a total 4,118,953 healthcare professionals, frontline fighters, and people aged above 40 years old have been immunized against the deadly virus. They include\u00a0 2,626,265 men and 1,492,688.<\/p>\n
A total 872 people have experienced adverse events.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, 5,361,778 people had completed vaccine registration till 5:30pm on Sunday, said a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)<\/p>\n
According to DGHS, 104,990 people received vaccines on Wednesday. Among them, 65,759 were men and 39,231 were women.<\/p>\n
None of them experienced any adverse events.<\/p>\n
Highest number of people vaccinated in Dhaka<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, the highest 35,136 people were vaccinated in Dhaka division. Among them, 20,137 people were vaccinated in the capital city while 14,999 people were vaccinated outside the capital.<\/p>\n
Till now, a total 1,298,360 people have received the first of the two doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in the division. Meanwhile,\u00a0 a total 175,170 people have been inoculated in Mymensingh division, 861,346 in Chittagong, 447,501 in Rajshahi, 379,254 in Rangpur, 539,929 in Khulna, 186,621 in Barisal, and 230,772 in Sylhet division. On March 8, health authorities in Bangladesh reported the first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus strain named Sars-CoV-2.<\/p>\n
The novel coronavirus broke out in China’s Wuhan city in late December 2019 and quickly spread throughout the world, becoming a pandemic in less than three months.<\/p>\n
The fast-spreading coronavirus had claimed more than 2,624,000 lives and infected as many as 118,243,000 people across the world till Wednesday afternoon, according to worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics. As many as 93,912,000 people have recovered from Covid-19, which has affected 219 countries and territories across the planet.<\/p>\n
