Rangamati DC hands 3L to Rupna and Ritu Porna’s family

Locals demanded rewards for other football artisans of the hills including Birsen Chakma and Shanti Moni Chakma

Rangamati District Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman gave gifts and cash assistance to the families of goalkeeper Rupna Chakma, and player Ritu Porna Chakma of the Bangladesh National Women’s Football Team who brought home the Saff Championship trophy.

DC Mizanur handed over a check of Tk1.5 lakh to Rupna Chakma’s mother Kala Sona Chakma on Tuesday, and also assured her of the construction of a bridge and a house in Naniarchar.

Later, DC Mizanur took sweets, fruits and cash assistance cheque to Ritu Porna Chakma’s home.

During time, the locals demanded rewards for other football artisans of the hills including Birsen Chakma and Shanti Moni Chakma.

Naniarchar UNO Md Fazlur Rahman, former national footballer Barun Dewan, former member of National Human Rights Commission Nirupa Dewan, district scout Nurul Abshar and various officials of the district and upazila were present. DC Mizanur said: “Rupna has increased Bangladesh’s reputation in the world by showing her extraordinary playing skills in the Saff Championship, she is the pride of our entire nation.”  He called for the regular practice of sports in every area to keep the reputation of mountain athletes intact.
